Request for Decision Summary
At the Regular Council meeting on November 13, 2018 a motion was passed requesting that administration bring forward a report on the estimated costing and options associated with hosting a mayor and council levee in January 2019.

Proposed Motion
That Administration be directed to plan a mayor and council levee to be held on January 26, 2019  and the funds be allocated from 2019 council contingency at a cost not to exceed $12,500.

It is a tradition in many municipalities across our great country to hold a levee during the month of January. A levee is a time where residents are encouraged to come out to a tea or drop in social and meet the Council. It is a very casual affair and it sets the tone for Councils next year. The social is held as soon after the New Year usually on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

The Elks Hall has been tentatively booked as the venue for this event on the afternoon of Saturday, January 26, 2019 for the levee which would be held from 2 - 4 p.m.
The cost estimate of $12,500 includes hall set up and clean up, decorations, catering of beverages and cakes/pastries for 500 attendees.
Once Council has approved proceeding with the levee, our communications staff will develop a plan to advise residents of the event.

Financial Implications:
It is recommended that this event be paid for from the 2019 Council Contingency and that any future events be part of the status quo budget.
